Using the manual and external overrides
When the power’s out or your remote control fob won’t work, your manual or external override lets you regain access to your garage quickly and safely.
Lost your fob? Remote battery run out? Remote stopped working? That’s where your Garolla manual override steps in. It gives you a simple way to open your garage door, so you’re never stuck outside.
It’ll also cover you in a power cut, but the real peace of mind comes from knowing you’ve always got a backup.
If your garage is your only way in, you must have an external override fitted - that way you can always get inside when you need to.
Here’s how to use your manual override…

Internal Manual Override
If you’re inside your garage when the power goes out, you can open the door manually using the internal override.
- Locate the eyelet on the motor side of the door.
- Insert the crank handle into the eyelet.
- Turn clockwise to open the door – you’ll see small gaps appear between the slats as it lifts.
- If the door won’t budge, the auto lock may be preventing both manual and motorised movement.
- To close the door, turn the handle anticlockwise until the slats lock back together.
⚠️ Important
Don’t over-wind the door.
Make sure at least one slat is always visible (not rolled fully into the top box), as forcing it can cause damage.

External Manual Override
- Unlock the security cover using the key provided – this prevents unauthorised access.
- Remove the lock barrel cylinder.
- Attach the handle by inserting the hex bar with folding handle into the gearbox.
- To open the door, turn clockwise if the override is on the left-hand side (as you face the door). Turn anticlockwise if the override is on the right hand side it’s on the right-hand side.
- Be patient – it may take several turns of the handle before the door starts to move.
- To close the door, turn in the opposite direction.
- Once finished, remove the hex bar, replace the lock barrel, and secure it with the key.
💡 If you ever find yourself inside the garage with an external override fitted, you can still crank the door open using the folding handle on the hex drive.
