How Andy Converted his Garage

Unused Space to Man Cave
As any keen golfer knows, shaving strokes off your handicap takes countless hours of practice. Regular trips to the driving range cost both time and money, but with today’s technology, serious practice can now happen at home. That’s why Andy decided to turn his garage into his very own golf simulator.
The biggest obstacle -aside from avoiding bunkers - was his old sectional garage door, which ate up valuable headroom and wall space. By upgrading to a space‑saving Garolla electric door, Andy unlocked the room he needed to swing freely. Now, he can tee off at a virtual Sawgrass and hone his skills without ever leaving home.

Golf All Year Round, Come Rain or Shine
Living in the UK, the weather doesn’t always allow for us to enjoy the outdoors, meaning some sports players rely on dry grass and sunny skies. Andy is a busy guy who values his time, and loves his golf – he needed to find a convenient solution to play golf without the worry of rain ruining his tee time.
“I’ve seen golf simulators online, and they look amazing. Having somewhere at home to practice, get better, and relax means I can enjoy golf all year round.”

Space, Height, and Storage Restrictions
Before upgrading to a space-saving roller garage door, the garage was limited by its layout, height and storage.
Andy’s wife used the garage for storage and for accessing garden tools, so there needed to be a solution that maximised space without compromising functionality. With the sectional door removed, it meant that a shallow storage area could be created close to the entrance for easy accessibility and then a dividing wall put in place to create a clean, dry and impressive space for golf which is accessed through a side door.
Andy chose the Garolla Titan door, with its reputation for security and design – it was an easy choice for him
“The Titan door has a Secured by Design accreditation, which was important to me. Plus, the 250mm top box allowed me to get maximum head height while saving space.”
There’s so much space now that the storage sits right up against the door, with a wall behind it fully separating it from the golf simulator – cleverly sectioned off to be two spaces. The golf simulator is then accessible through a side door, a neat division of ‘his and hers’ spaces.
